THE BELGIAN DIARIES: WEEKEND UPDATE
I’m only posting a very quick update here before heading into town, I figured that since I haven’t had much time lately, this was probably my only chance to write an update! So in brief…
There’s the Brussels summer festival on this weekend and I want to see as much of it as possible while I can. Last night we rambled down for a few drinks at Grand Place and saw various stages, etc being set up along the way. Naturally the place was jammed with tourists and street musicians but it looked great. Really great! It’d be rude not to check it out when the city is going to such a big effort to make the festival as impressive as possible… just a thought.
Aside from that, I found out during the week that my friend from home Declan is currently interrailling around Europe and is stopping off in Brussels for the weekend, so we’re going to do a whole load of touristy things together! Even though I’m still not an expert on all the main attractions, I certainly know where the best beers, chips and chocolates are so I’m sure between the two of us we’ll make the most out of the weekend. I do enjoy exploring cities, especially with old friends, so I’m delighted about that.
It’s weird to think, but my time in Brussels is quickly coming to an end – next week marks my last week at work. As predicted, it flew. I’ll write a big long post as soon as I find time and I’ll tell you all about how my last few weeks have been in the place! I feel like so many things have happened that I just haven’t had time to take a breather and write about them all. Rest assured, it’s all been great. I’m having an excellent time in this city and it’s certainly left its mark on me – even if it’s just the new found love of fruit beers and sugared waffles.
Anyway as I said, this is just a quick update. More to follow, eventually. I promise.
