NO MAKE UP SELFIES AND THE WONDERFUL WORK OF SOCIAL MEDIA
I can’t go on Facebook any more without seeing at least three new #nomakeup selfies go up per day. There’s been a lot of hype about the selfie project that came out of no where, but personally I think it’s absolutely fantastic. I understand that charity should come from those who feel no need to post so publicly about it, that those who are truely good give for the cause not for image it reflects on themselves, but taking everything into account, I’m absolutely thrilled that this project has been so successful, vanities or no vanities.
It’s raised over €400,000 euro in Ireland alone. That’s in a week. AND Daffodil Day is coming up now this week too, so that’s even more money that’ll go to the Irish Cancer Society. I’m delighted that social media and selfies could actually be used to generate such a massive amount of money for an incredibly worthy charity, so I was more than happy to jump on the bandwagon when I got nominated. (Four times guys. No big deal or anything.)
I hope everyone keeps up the wonderful work, and I can’t wait to see what my nominated friends come up with!
